Hokkaido University (北海道大学) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. This institution also has a branch campus in Hakodate and Hokkaido. Founded in 1918, Hokkaido University (Hokudai) is a coeducational institution officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Hokudai provides courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees, including pre-bachelor's degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
