Overview

Universidad de la República (University of the Republic) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the metropolis of Montevideo, Uruguay. This institution also has branch campuses in Salto, Paysandú, Tacuarembó, Rivera, Maldonado, Rocha, Cerro Largo and Treinta y Tres. Established in 1833, Universidad de la República (UDELAR) is a coeducational institution and is officially recognized by the Ministerio de Educación y Cultura. UDELAR provides programs and courses leading to officially recognized higher education degrees, such as pre-bachelor's degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
