Established in 1956, Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (Autonomous University of the State of Mexico) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Toluca (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Estado de Mexico. This institution also has branch campuses in Amecameca, Atlacomulco, Ecatepec, Temascaltepec, Tenancingo, Texcoco, Valle de Chalco, Valle de México, Teotihuacan and Zumpango. Officially recognized by the Secretaría de Educación Pública, Mexico (Secretariat of Public Education of Mexico), Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEM) is a very large-sized (uniRank enrollment range: over-50,000 students) coeducational Mexican higher education institution.
