Overview

Founded in 2001, the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium town of Paola (population range of 2,500-9,999 inhabitants), South Eastern Region. This institution also has branch campuses in Mosta, Qormi and Gozo. Officially recognized by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation of Malta, Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) is a large sized (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational Maltese higher education institution.   • Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology library offerings include The Library and Learning Resource Centre (LLRC), which provides information and resources to support the learning, teaching, and research needs of the student and staff community in its mission to help them succeed in achieving academic and research excellence.
  • The Library and Learning Resource Centre (LLRC) on the MCAST Main Campus in Paola (also referred to as the Main Library) houses information and resources on all subjects being taught at the MCAST Institutes based on the MCAST Main Campus in Paola.
  • Besides the LLRC on the main campus, MCAST has other off-site libraries available for all registered students and staff (full or part-time). The following is a list of all MCAST libraries:
    • Main LLRC – MCAST Main Campus Paola;
    • Institute of Applied Sciences – Centre of Agriculture, Aquatics and Animal Sciences Library – Qormi;
    • Institute for the Creative Arts Library – Mosta;
    • Gozo Campus Library – Għajnsielem.
  • The Library is a vital resource centre for both students and staff. Besides academic materials, there are subjects of general interest and a good fiction collection, in Maltese and English, for leisure reading, as well as several DVD films that can be viewed inside the library. In addition to books (lending and reference), the Library also stocks CDs, DVDs and an extensive collection of periodicals (journals and magazines) on many subjects. There are also past dissertations for consultancy purposes.
  • The LLRC also offers services that include induction sessions, introduction to the use of e-resources and catalogues, as well as help in research.
  • In addition to print materials, the LLRC has an extensive collection of electronic resources. These include hundreds of thousands of e-books and millions of e-journal articles being subscribed to EBSCO, Emerald and Weblinks databases for journal articles and ProQuest database for e-books. The MCAST LLRC webpage and detailed catalogue with entries on all printed titles in the Library’s collection, can be accessed at https://www.mcast.edu.mt/mcast-library/. A large number of full-text electronic journals and electronic books can be searched for and read online through the main library page by clicking on Electronic Library Resources or the MCAST E-Library Service webpages.
