Founded in 1774, Eszterházy Károly Egyetem (Eszterházy Károly University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the small city of Eger (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Heves. This institution also has a branch campus in Jászberényi and Sárospatak. Officially recognized by the Magyar Felsőoktatási Akkreditációs Bizottság (Hungarian Accreditation Committee), Eszterházy Károly Egyetem (EKE) is a large-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational Hungarian higher education institution.
