Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education

Established in 1932 and officially recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is a non-profit accreditation national agency that accredits professional degree programs in pharmacy education in the United States.

ACPE's mission is to promote and assure educational quality in pharmacy education and continuing professional development. It does this by setting standards for educational quality and institutional effectiveness and by evaluating programs against those standards. ACPE accreditation is based on a comprehensive review of the institution's programs, faculty, facilities and administrative practices.

The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education accredits Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) programs, as well as continuing pharmacy education (CPE) providers. ACPE accreditation is voluntary, but is often a requirement for licensure and credentialing in the field of pharmacy.

In addition to accreditation, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education also provides support and resources to its accredited programs, including professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, access to educational research and best practices and advocacy on behalf of the pharmacy profession.
