Medr is a Welsh government-sponsored body that was established in 1992. Medr is responsible for distributing public funding to higher education institutions in Wales and ensuring that they deliver high-quality education and research. Medr has a number of key responsibilities, including: a) Funding allocation: Medr allocates public funding to higher education institutions in Wales based on their performance and strategic priorities. b) Quality assurance: Medr ensures that higher education institutions in Wales deliver high-quality education and research by monitoring and assessing their performance. c) Policy development: Medr develops policies and strategies to support the development of higher education in Wales and promote collaboration between institutions. d) Research: Medr funds research activities in Wales and supports the development of research infrastructure and capacity. e) Collaboration: Medr promotes collaboration between higher education institutions in Wales and with institutions in other parts of the UK and internationally.
